How to Find Your Own Personal Style
You might not quite know what your own personal style is, but the truth is you will have one – everyone does. It’s just a question of finding that style and enjoying it. Sometimes it’s also a question of being brave enough to make the changes necessary to enjoy that style; it could mean an entire makeover if you have been hiding your own style for a while because you think it’s what society expects from you.
You have one life, and it’s essential to be you when you’re living it. Therefore, you need to find your own personal style, no matter what it might be. Here are some ways to do it.
You don’t want to copy someone else’s style unless it really speaks to you (and even then, you can change it to make it more your own). Still, if you never look around and see what other people are wearing and how they’re wearing it, you’ll have a hard time discovering just what it is that appeals to you the most.
You might see someone wearing women’s casual sneakers with a summer dress, for example, and use that to form the basis of your new wardrobe. Or it could be jeans and heels. It might be piercings or colorful hair, or a particular hairstyle. It could be a mix of colors or just one color in everything you wear. There are so many choices that it can certainly help to see what other people are wearing and go from there.
Experimenting with your new style – or any style – is a great way to find the one that works best for you. If you are looking for your own personal style, the best thing to do is to try all kinds of different styles and looks until you find the one that you feel most comfortable with. You can even take different elements from a variety of different styles and put them together if you want to; there are no rules when it comes to finding your style apart from needing to like it and want to wear it.
The critical thing to remember is never to follow trends unless those trends happen to be something you love. If you only wear clothing because someone else tells you to and you don’t really like it, you’ll never really be yourself. You’ll never really be comfortable, which can make many other aspects of life more difficult, and even take away your confidence.
Have A Clear-Out
The best place to start when trying to find your own style is to look in your wardrobe. If there is anything there that you know you are not going to wear in the future, it’s time to either throw it out, send it to Goodwill, or sell it online. When you have done this, you’ll see what’s left in your wardrobe, and this could help you determine your style. If everything you have left over has a certain theme to it, whether it’s the style or the color or anything else, you’ll start to get a much better idea of what you like – you probably bought the styles and colors without even thinking about them because it’s your own personal style.
